Anambra State Governor Relaxes Lockdown, Opens Intra-State Movement
Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has opened movement within the state. However, state boundaries remain closed.
In his latest address to the people of Anambra state, he made known that all food markets including restaurants and bars in Anambra State were to reopen for normal business. On conditions that they must comply with the principles of social distancing, and should also provide hand-washing points with soap and hand sanitizers at the entry points.
However, large markets were still not opened and still locked. The Governor confirmed that he has scheduled a meeting with the leaders of all the markets in Anambra State on Monday, April 27, 2020, to agree on when to reopen our markets.
He made known that illegal motor parks operating at the boundaries will be quickly dismantled with immediate effect.
Churches were to resume worship but crusades and vigils were banned.
Face masks were still fully in force, as leaving home without them is considered as an offense.
In his closing address, he thanked the donors that made donations to the state government to assist in the fight against the pandemic and that he will ensure that every one of them will be given due recognition.
He also announced that healthcare workers that treated the state's Index Case will all be awarded a Medal of Honour from the Government of Anambra State and a cash award.
