Google And Apple Team Up To Develop Joint COVID-19 Contact Tracing System
United States Tech Companies, Apple and Google, announced that they are in collaboration to develop a technology that alerts people when they come into contact with infected persons.
The technology was defined as a Contact Tracing System.
This technology works by using a smartphone's Bluetooth signals to determine to whom the owner had recently been in close contact with long enough for one to contract the virus.
Peradventure either of them later tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, a warning would be sent to the original handset owner.
The technology is sure to be downgraded by the public due to privacy issues, but the Tech Giants have assured that no GPS location data or personal information would be recorded.
In a joint statement, Apple and Google said :
Privacy, transparency, and consent are of utmost importance in this effort and we look forward to building this functionality in consultation with interested stakeholders.
We will openly publish information about our work for others to analyze
The United States President, Donald Trump, said that his administration needed time to consider the development.
